I have over 40 years of cumulative experience, at just about all possible professional levels, in a variety of areas related to mechanical engineering, materials science & engineering, manufacturing and materials processing. This experience was gained in U.S. corporations that were and are the world's leaders in various areas of aerospace and of generation & conversion of energy; in leading U.S. academia and a U.S. national laboratory; in an Israeli national laboratory, in Israeli academia and as an independent entrepreneur.
THE SERVICES I OFFER:
-
Consulting and leading research & development (R&D) projects in areas related to mechanical
engineering, materials science & engineering, manufacturing and materials processing.
-
Failure analysis of all types of mechanical and materials systems.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
-
Designing mechanical systems that are used worldwide.
-
Designing, at the end of mission oriented R&D, a plant for the cost-effective manufacturing of
modern rechargeable batteries.
-
Initiating, designing, establishing and managing R&D facilities and teams in industry, in national
laboratories and in academia, in the USA and in Israel.
-
Designing and building unique experimental systems that facilitated the successful conduct of R&D
projects.
-
Initiating and leading multidisciplinary development, applied research, mission-oriented research and
basic research, in industry, in national laboratories and in academia, in the USA and in Israel,
including in the following U.S. corporations: Thermo King, Gould, Honeywell, Westinghouse and
Martin Marietta that is part of the current Lockheed Martin Corporation.
-
Establishing and leading, while on a 27-month sabbatical, all new research facility, research program
and research group at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
-
Serving as consultant on subjects related to mechanical, material and process engineering in Israel
and in the USA.
-
Doing failure analysis of engineering systems and components.
-
Having formal training and actual experience as expert witness in Israeli courts.
PARTIAL LIST OF UNCLASSIFIED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES:
-
Studying all aspects of mechanical behavior of advanced materials with emphasis on high temperature
performance.
-
Life prediction and structural integrity of engineering systems that operate at extreme stresses and
temperatures like gas turbines, jet-engines, fighter planes, nuclear and conventional power plants.
-
Formulating the effective diffusion time during rapid thermal processing (RTP). The derived
expression is an essential calculating tool for the development and manufacturing of all current and
future advanced nano-processors for use in the fastest computers.
-
Developing, in Israel, the process for casting single-crystal superalloy components for the hottest
sections of modern jet engines and gas turbines.
-
Electron beam welding and using the unique characteristics of this process for enhancing the
mechanical behavior of welded systems.
-
Machining of hard ceramics.
-
Joining dissimilar materials by diffusion.
-
Physical vapor deposition (PVD) of aluminum oxide, (alumina) as a diffusion barrier coating of very
strong silicon carbide fibers.
-
Metal forming of special alloys: Theoretical formulation and experimental research.
-
Computational optimization of the cooling processes of large ceramic products to retain their structural
integrity during manufacturing.
-
Annealing and recrystallization of special materials.
-
Optimizing thick-wall pressure vessels.
-
Mathematical formulation of the behavior of temperature-compensated magnetostrictive bi-metals to
be used as sensors.
